When I started Inspired Academics in 2015, I had served 11 years in public school teaching with a special love of working in middle schools. I had two young children, and felt a better balance in my family life by stepping away from the demands of the classroom and accommodating a few unique requests made by parents to work with students privately in one-to-one settings as a supportive bolster to their schooling.
Tutoring allowed me to discover the greatest joy of my life as a teacher in promoting student success more quickly, more joyfully, and with fewer constraints.
Today, in conjunction with a team of tutors who share my philosophies, we serve over 65 families with students ages 5 and up, following these same playful and joyful practices in learning. It is an incredibly rewarding and effective endeavor!

Though I didn't recognize it as a young adult, tutoring and teaching is what I was always meant to do. I started my professional life studying nuclear engineering as an officer in the Navy, but I was drawn time and again to any teaching or tutoring opportunities that arose. After serving 9 years in the Navy, I began tutoring as a side job, and finally realized that education is where I find my joy. I've since taught at a high school in New Haven, a special education school in New Britain and a school for gifted students in Avon. I have also tutored close to 100 private students. I find high school math to be the most fun to tutor, but I also love high school level science, and have become quite adept at tutoring reading and writing as well.

My personal interests include reading, movies, sports, and vintage wristwatches.
